Service Applications

A Service Application provides BGE an accurate description of your service request, including the anticipated gas and/or electric requirements, to initiate your job.

In order for BGE to meet your requested service date, we strongly recommend that you submit your Service Application as early as possible in your planning process.

Before starting your application, please gather all the information listed below. When you have all the information listed, you're ready to start your application.
 
  1. Project Address
    Complete address of where the work is to be performed.
  2. BGE Contact
    Person BGE will contact to discuss the project and send communications regarding changes affecting the status of the job.
  3. Other Contact Information
    Specific Name and phone number of architect/engineer/plumber and/or mechanic contractor.
  4. Electric Load Requirements
    If you do not know your electrical load requirements, you will need to consult with an electrician
    1. Specific number of meters required
    2. Know KW or HP ratings for each type of electric load you are using
    3. Know your main disconnect size (amps)
    4. Meter address/designation
    5. Current load and future load  (Commercial & Industrial and Modification/Relocation Applications only)
    6. Voltage Class
  5. Gas Load Requirements.
    If you do not know your Gas load requirements, you will need to consult with a plumber.
    1. Specific number of meters required
    2. Meter address designation
    3. BTU Rating or CFH for each type of gas load
    4. Required Gas pressure
    5. Current load and future load  (Commercial & Industrial and Modification/Relocation Applications only)
  6. Billing Information
    1. Legal Name of Builder/Company - The official name of the company as it appears on file with the State of Maryland Attorney General's Office.  The company's legal name will also appear on the Charter of Articles of Incorporation. 
    2. Person Responsible for construction charges
    3. Person responsible for consumption charges
  7. Site Plan
    1. A site plan to scale (1" = 100' at a minimum) showing the following:
      1. All on-site utilities (water, sewer, septic area, storm drain, etc.)
      2. Existing BGE poles and pole numbers, meters and/or pad mounted transformer locations
      3. Driveway and property lines
      4. Street names
    2. For small jobs, in lieu of site plan, sketch required for:
      1. barns
      2. garages
      3. snowball stands
    3. Submit as an attachment in one of three BGE formats: More info...
      1. Microstation (all releases)
      2. AutoCAD (releases prior to version 14)
      3. .dxf format
